52 year old Brigadier Narendra Chaarag is an example of guts and indefatigable will.
He is an exceptionally fit outdoor enthusiast and an avid cyclist, who qualified for the World’s oldest cycling race Paris-Brest- Paris (PBP). Hit by an over-speeding truck while cycling, left with ruptured intestines, urinary bladder and more than a dozen fractures, he spent almost four months on the bed, where the best recovery expected was to be on a single crutch all his life.
His will power and positive attitude saw him through in just seven months, and he joined the Atulya Ganga Walkathon in Mar 2021, a week after shedding his crutches. He followed it up with a 52 km ride exactly one year from the day of accident. Narendra trained the Cyclothon 2022 volunteers and joined the team at Allahabad. He was one of the seven finishers at Gangasagar.
Narendra is also involved in water conservation and afforestation activities and has established six perennial check dam based ponds spread over ten acres. He has also undertaken various plantation drives; mostly based on Miyawaki technique.
Brigadier Narendra cycled 550 kms on Atulya Ganga Cyclothon from Prayagraj to Patna.
