38 years old Manjushree Naxane, joined Atulya Ganga as cyclists for 635 kms from Kanpur to Patna. During the journey they realized that the Noble cause of saving Maa Ganga for our next generations was a golden opportunity that opened new vistas for them. So enchanted were they with Atulya Ganga initiatives, that they have chosen to work together on two pillars of Atulya Ganga, Plantation and no to plastics. At the start of their journey at Kanpur, the Cyclothon team joined the team of Kanpur Ploggers under the leadership of Dr. Sanjeevani in collecting plastic waste lying strewn around in a ghat of Ganga. The collected waste by the ploggers was sent for recycling. On the way, they had many opportunities to talk to young generation for making them aware about the need for youth participation to save environment and Ganga. They found the enthusiasm and receptiveness of the audience amazing, and the Atulya Ganga slogan “SABKA SAATH HO GANGA SAAF HO’ mesmerizing. They also planted trees at various places with the association of Green India Foundation. Dr Abhay is the Principal Medical Officer (SG) in Indian Ordnance Factories Health Services at Chanda. Mrs Manjushree is a housewife. The couple work together as a team on all family initiative. After returning from the cyclothon, Dr Abhay , in the weekly meeting with all Officers, told them to make their estate plastic free. The General Manager told the house that no single use plastics will be allowed in weekly Vegetable Market and all grocery Shops in the estate. Also a Publicity campaign will be taken up to highlight the harmful aspects of using plastics. Dr Abhay and Mrs Manjushree have also decided to plant a tree on all occasions of birthday anniversary etc. They will also spread the idea to his network of friends. ms Kanpur to Patna
