Atulya Ganga Parikrama 2020-21 was culmination of a vision, dream Gopal carried with him since 1986 when he assisted a hermit Gopal Baba, in his attempt at the first ever Ganga Parikrama on foot, successfully negotiating the arduous Himalayan stretch from Gomukh to Haridwar along the left bank of Ganga, where no road or track exists.
Gopal Baba walking alone thereafter, was set upon by goons in the state of Bihar, beaten unconscious to a pulp, he was dumped unconscious on the right bank of Ganga. On regaining consciousness, the Baba realized the rule of not crossing Ganga was broken. He abandoned the parikrama. Ever since then, Gopal lived with the dream of circumnavigating Ganga on foot.
