Presently heading the Department of Gastroenterology in a Medical College in Pune, his illustrious career of 38 years in the Army has many distinctions, including having commanded the Research and Referral Hospital of the Indian Army. General Sukh Dayal was the guardian angel of Atulya Ganga Parikrama. He ensured the walkers complete the 5,530 km walkathon without a hitch.
In addition to being a physician and a gastroenterologist, he has an equally impressive adventure record. It began by his founding the Medicos Adventure Club in his Alma Mater – Institute of Medical Sciences BHU. Undeterred by a minor hiccup of a heart attack in 2006, he decided to give the heart a run for its beats by participating in 8 half Marathons from 2010 to 2017.
In addition to exploring the Himalayan ranges from Garhwal, to Sikkim including Kanchenjuga, and East Nepal, General Sukh Dayal organized and executed an all Army Medical Corps Mountaineering expedition to Leo Purgial (22221 ft) in 2016 in which 4 doctors and 2 Para-Medicals successfully scaled the peak.
