Reviving Holi heritage. A sequel to the historic homecoming of Ram Lala to Ayodhya on 22 January 2024.

Embarking on Heritage Preservation: AG Gangotri – Gangasagar Traverse, Oct-Nov 2024

The historic Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lala in Ayodhya on 22nd January 2024 marked the dawn of restoring the cultural heritage of the oldest human civilization, after a passage of five centuries. Atulya Ganga, as a vital link in this chain, presents a transformative traverse along Maa Ganga, emphasizing the essence that preserving heritage is as pivotal as restoring it.

The storyline of the proposed journey:

Please keep yourselves free in October-November this year to participate in the 28-day-long fourth annual event of Atulya Ganga’s journey. This journey started with the 5,530 km Ganga Parikrama on foot in 2020-2021, followed by the 2800 km Gangotri-Gangasagar cyclothon in 2022, and the 780 km Yamunotri cyclothon in 2023. It aims to instil in our citizens the importance of public participation in government efforts to preserve our heritage through the rejuvenation of our rivers, which are perilously approaching extinction due to years of overexploitation.
Commencing in sync with the celestial transition around mid-October, as Deity Ganga moves from Her summer abode at Gangotri to the winter sanctuary at Mukhba, approximately 30 km downstream, the traverse will incorporate diverse modes of travel during its twenty-eight-day duration. The journey will unfold as a one-day on-foot pilgrimage from Gangotri to Mukhba, followed by a cycling expedition from Mukhba to Haridwar and further to Kanpur. The subsequent leg from Kanpur Barrage to Gangasagar will encompass both boat and bicycle modes.

Throughout the traverse, we will organize strategic public meetings to showcase our pollution mapping initiatives, tree plantations, and the development of the Ganga Health Dashboard, facilitated by a mobile app collaboratively designed with our partners: DTU (Delhi Tech University), IIT Ropar, TERI (The Energy Research Institute), and SAS Delhi. Furthermore, we will highlight our Green Initiative, emphasizing tree plantation and the reclamation of wastelands through collaboration with our partner Green India Foundation. The primary objective of these public gatherings is to raise awareness and galvanize a mass movement dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness of our rivers.

To amplify youth engagement, we intend to feature the participation of thousands of NCC cadets, school, and college students, mirroring the successful involvement in our previous events. Our aspiration is to foster widespread participation and garner support from the public.

Join Us in Celebrating the Grand Event and Embrace the Ancient Heritage Restoration Movement

In the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi’s call to be the change we wish to see, our distinctive traverse extends an invitation to citizens and organizations alike to join us. We aim to exhort young students, dedicated teaches, seasoned photographers capturing historic moments, aspiring entrepreneurs, corporate entities, to join forces with us. Together, we aspire to catalyze a powerful mass movement capable of delivering the impactful force needed to revitalize and safeguard our rivers.
